Mini Adventure into the Unknown: Ghost-town Famagusta Discover the hidden history of Famagusta, an ancient city now known as the "Ghost Town," and explore the complexities of Cyprus' Northern territory occupation. Famagusta was once the beating heart of the Mediterranean—a bustling hub where East met West. A crossroads of the spice routes and silk roads, it was a city where pilgrims, traders, and nobles gathered, and where cultures intertwined. Greek, French, Armenian, Genoese, Venetian, Jewish, Syrian, Catalan, Pisan, Turkish, and Arab communities once thrived here, each leaving their mark on this vibrant, multicultural city. Today, Famagusta stands in stark contrast to its storied past. The tour begins with a short film that captures the city before the invasion, followed by a drive along the border fence that encloses this once-glamorous town. We’ll then visit its famous golden beaches, where abandoned hotels now stand as eerie reminders of a bygone era. The journey continues around the city’s medieval moat, with the towering gothic walls still guarding the historic core. Inside the city walls, explore remnants of the 365 churches and cathedrals that once adorned Famagusta, bearing witness to centuries of rich history. You'll have time to stroll through the city at your leisure or relax with a coffee and sample local sweets. Available: Winter Season: 1st December – 28th February (Tuesdays & Thursdays) Duration: 4.5 hours (plus travel time) Hotel Pick-ups: Ayia Napa: 8:30am – 9:00am Exact pick-up times will be confirmed upon booking.
